Swoon, real name Caledonia “Callie” Curry, is a contemporary street artist mainly working from New York, she works with life-size prints made from recycled newspaper for her projects as the delicacy of the material is what she plays on to create the final effect.

As the paper suffers from the elements of weather it degrades, turning yellow/brown in colour as well as blistering off at places.  This gives the ‘real life’ idea that nothing lasts including art. acclaim_swoon

Swoon created not only stunning pieces of artwork/graffiti but ‘Swimming Cities of Switchback Sea‘ where a group of budding artist and musicians got together to create boats to sail down the Hudson River in 2008 at part of a project exhibition.  This was then recreated in a trip from Slovenia to Venice in 2009 entitled ‘Swimming Cities of Serenissima‘.  These rafts were made from junk materials and were designed to represent the story about an escape from economic and ecological collapse.
